IN 1986 GAETANO BEGAN HIS ADVENTURE AS A WINEMAKER, WITH THE IDEA OF PRODUCING STILL WINES FOR LONG AGING. AFTER GAINING EXPERIENCE WITH HIS FATHER, TODAY NICOLA BRINGS FORWARD THE COMPANY.
Solenghi winery was born in 1983 from the idea of Gaetano. Bored by office life, he decided to devote himself to work a small vineyard, extended only for one hectare, owned by his aunt Maria Teresa.
Gaetano began to work under the guidance of Celsino, an old farmer born in 1920 who used to manage that vineyard before. From him Gaetano learned that peasant knowledge with which the vineyards are still carried on today. Respect for nature, which today means environmental sustainability, was a prerogative of work right from the beginning, a choice that is now almost a must but then meant going against the tide. Gaetano bravely rejected the dominant economic model based on maximum yields, giving up tillage, fertilization and the use of chemistry.
The quantity did not matter. At the beginning of the 90’s he expanded the vineyard bringing it to the approximately 2.5 hectares we have today. The goal was always to obtain grapes of the highest quality.
